WELCOME! The Arts Council of Moore County requests the pleasure of your company. We are excited to offer a third year of Appetite for Art, thanks to the overwhelming response and success of last year's event. Appetite for Art is a series of exciting parties hosted by generous friends of the Arts Council. Dinners, luncheons, and other themed events are offered throughout the year. Cost per person is noted for each party. All proceeds from Appetite for Art will benefit the programs and services of the Arts Council of Moore County.
PARTY RESERVATIONS: Reservations for each party will be accepted on a "first-come, first-served" basis. To get a reservation form via mail, just call the Arts Council at 910-692-4356 or pick a brochure up at the Campbell House (482 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines). Make your selections early before the parties fill up.

Party #1: POKER FUN [SOLD OUT] Friday, February 29, 2008 - 7 p.m. Hosts: Myrna & Bob Spencer and Carolyn & Bob Alli Bring your poker face to a poker party for all levels. Enjoy assorted snacks and card-playing faire with soda, beer, and wine. You will receive $15 worth of chips to begin. Additional chips will be available for purchase. Prizes will be awarded to the winners at each table. Limited to 12 guests

Party #2: WE'LL TAKE MANHATTAN - A NEW YORK FOCUS [SOLD OUT] Monday, April 18, 2008 - 7 p.m. Hosts: Lucille & Jim Buck We'll take Manhattan...or Manhattans, Cosmopolitans, or a bit of the bubbly. Hors d'oeuvres catered by Laurie Rich featuring tastes of Chinatown, Little Italy, Harlem, Eastside, Westside, and all about the town. Jazz to rival late Broadway, and the twinkle of late lights. Mayor Bloomberg, Hillary, and Rudy send their regrets.

Party #3: TENNIS'N TARTES III Monday, April 28, 2008 - 9:30 a.m. Hosts: Carolyn Alli, Carol Barber, Maryann Bodine, Caron Broadwell, Jane George, Nancy Hasbrouck, Mickey Owens, Connie Petrillo, Gail Puleo, Mary Sheridan, Myrna Spencer, and Matt Downing (Pinehurst Tennis Director). Be a part of a fun-filled day playing tennis in a Round Robin Tennis Tournament at the Pinehurst Country Club arranged by the Club Pro. Then proceed to the patio for hors d'oeuvres, wine, and an elegant buffet luncheon. During the luncheon, tournament prizes and door prizes will be awarded, followed by a fashion show and a few other surprises. Limited to 48 players and 15 additional guests for lunch only

Party #4: PINEHURST GOLF LESSON & LUNCH Thursday, May 8, 2008 - 1 p.m. Hosts: Eric Alpenfels Need help with your golf swing? Why not learn from the best while supporting the Arts Council? Along with his teaching team, Eric Alpenfels, Director of Golf Course Instruction at the Pinehurst Golf Academy, will provide an afternoon of golf lessons that will surely lower your handicap. Lunch will also be provided at the Donald Ross Grill. This will also make a great early Father's Day present!
Eric Alpenfels has been part of the Pinehurst family since 1985. He is a Class A PGA of America professional and is involved in daily instruction with both amateur and professional golfers. His expertise and professionalism have earned him recognition from Golf Magazine as one of the "Top 100 Teachers in America" and Golf Digest as one of "America's 50 Greatest Teachers."

Party #5: SPRING FEVER FASHION SHOW Wednesday, May 14, 2008 - 2 p.m. Hosts: Framer's Cottage, Morgan Miller and The Jefferson Inn Celebrate spring with flair! After the chill of winter, enjoy the warmth of an afternoon in The Jefferson Inn's terraced courtyard, while Morgan Miller and Framer's Cottage wow you with their new Spring Collections. Refreshments and pastries by Chef Shawn Singer of One Fifty West will be served. During the event, you may purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a one-night stay at The Jefferson Inn, a Charles Albert Pendant from Framer's Cottage, and an evening bag from Morgan Miller. Also, all Arts Council members attending the event will receive a 10% discount coupon for a purchase of a non-sale item during the month of May. Limited to 60 guests

Party #6: CRUISING LAKE AUMAN II [SOLD OUT] Saturday, May 18, 2008 - 5 p.m. (Rain date: May 19) Host: Gail Puleo and Dian Moore Back by popular demand--enjoy a lovely afternoon cruising along Lake Auman--Take in the lovely homes and magnificent scenery as you sail along. Assorted wines and hors d'oeuvres will be served on the trip. Limited to 10 guests

Party #7: AFTERNOON DELIGHT IN THE PARLOR Sunday, June 29, 2008 - 2 p.m. Hosts: Friends of the Arts Council Enjoy some of life's pleasures--strawberries, chocolate, Mozart, and art. This party will take place in the elegant setting of the Campbell House where the current exhibit will feature pottery by Ben Owen III and paintings by Fay Terry. Limited to 40 guests

Party #8: A PEEK INTO FALL FASHIONS Friday, August 22, 2008 - 5-7 p.m. Host: Helen Edwards and H. Edwards & Co. Get a sneak peek at the early fall arrivals at H. Edwards & Co. Models will showcase the new collection, which will include sportswear, dresses, evening wear, accessories, handmade bags, hand knit sweaters, and handmade jewelry. Wine, cheese, and hor d'oeurves will be served. Limited to 50 guests

Party #9: TEA TIME -- BRITISH STYLE [SOLD OUT] Wednesday, September 10, 2008 - 3 p.m. Hosts: Jean Roe, Jane George, Connie Petrillo and Gail Puleo It's Tea time to enjoy an afternoon sipping and socializing indoors or on deck side with a wonderful view of Talamore Golf Course. A variety of teas (hot or cold), afternoon wines, tea sandwiches and finger desserts will be served. Limited to 18 guests

Party #10: THE FRESH MARKET WINE GALA Tuesday, September 23, 2008 - 7-9 p.m. Hosts: The Fresh Market of Southern Pines, Pat Bradbury and Connie Petrillo The Fresh Market of Southern Pines is closing its doors for one night--a special wine tasting gala just for you! As a special guest, you can feast on the wine-tasting stations with heavy hors d'oeuvres and a food-only table serving boneless prime rib and shrimp cocktail. Party #12: RED, WHITE, & BLUE BUFFET AND THE CAPITOL STEPS [SOLD OUT] Sunday, October 19, 2008 - 3 p.m. (Capitol Steps show) / After the Show - Dinner Hosts: David & Linda Seiberling Tired of politics as usual? The answer to your election year blues is a concert by the Capitol Steps, followed by some good food, good conversation, and good times. As a troupe of Congressional staffers turned musical comedians, the Capitol Steps have toured the US satirizing the very people who once employed them. Their material is funny, insightful, and timely whether it includes George Bush's latest malapropism, in "Don't Go Fakin' You're Smart" (to Elton John's "Don't Go Breakin' My Heart") or Mike Tyson in "Pardon Me Boys, Is This the Chap Who Tried to Chew You?"
